My little personal rant!
Okay guys, it’s my time to rant and it’s going to be long, but I’ll try to stay focused and intelligible. I woke up this morning with some kind of personal revelation and I needed to put it on paper (or online, whatever) so it would be out of my aching chest.
So, here we go!
My revelation is that I don’t think Michael and Alex will end up together as a couple at the end of season 1 and I don’t want them to (let me explain before throwing me stones!!!). I don’t want them to be together too soon, before they have time to figure out their shit and to be completely ready for each other.
Have you ever seen a true OTP be together in a long lasting relationship from season 1? No, nearly never and if they are, it always ends in tragedy and messy break ups.
So, instead, I want Michael and Alex to work their way back to each other slowly but completely. They still have a LOT of shit to figure out and a LOT of baggage. But they will be together, they have been written like this. Their entire storyline is so intertwine it can’t be otherwise. I just don’t want them to be thrown together before they are ready. When they leap, I want them to be all the way in, with no parachute or second guessing.
In the meantime, they will fight and hurt and talk and be friends and maybe be together on and off and have other people being thrown their way, because that’s life and how any TV show works!
But we all need to remember what everyone has said and implied since the show aired. Michael and Alex are IT, it’s a love for the ages and their love isn’t going anywhere. They are even more dramatic than Echo for christsake! The cast and crew have all said they would need time apart to better themselves before getting back together.
And guys, I’ll be there for all of it. The pain, the pining, the heartbreak, the friendship, the unconditional love and all there is in between. Because Malex are soul mates!
I just hope they give us season 2 to see all of it unfold. In the meantime, when I feel blue, I’ll gorge myself with fanfictions. ^^
Carina (I know some of you are angry with her but she is the showrunner and I think she has a pretty good idea where her story is going, even if the writting is a little awkward and rushed sometimes) said Alex and Michael are her favorite, but that they would have ups and downs and bumps in the road and that’s what make a love story COSMIC (remember Logan and Veronica or Elena and Damon? True soul mates, but a VERY complicated relationship). We are only 11 episodes in the 1st season guy! We have to let the characters breath and the plot unfold!
The show has laid out the ground work for Malex love story in season 1 and now all we have to do is see their relationship unfold to become even stronger and more powerful. It’s going to be a bumpy ride, yes and I’ll probably cry and shout and have my heart torn apart, but I have no doubt it will be worthwhile in the end (like Tyler has said once).
All the characters in this show are complicated people with complicated feelings, so of course they will all have moments of doubts and make mistakes and lie to protect themselves and hurt each other. Malex will never be cult or endgame without pain and drama and complications.
All of it to say they probably won’t be together as a couple at the end of season 1, but I’m definitely sure they will be closer than ever. They will have gone from darkness (literally, their first kiss was in the darkness) to the light. They will go from secret high school boyfriends full of pining and pain and hurt to two grown ass man with no more secrets, who are finally talking and decide to be there for each other (as friends at the beginning maybe, but they will be together nonetheless and on the same page for once). And that’s beautiful and bittersweet and good.
They need to learn to communicate, to evolve and to get better for each other. But guys, remember their love is everlasting! I don’t know how many time the cast and crew have said it and we need to believe in what the people who are actually involved in the show are saying.
On another note, I’m not only watching the show for Malex (a little, but not only) and I’ve come to love all of these characters. I’m completely in love with Michael, I’ve always had a things for messed up pretend bad boys with a big heart (Hi Daryl! Hi Dean! Hi Damon!). I’m in awe in front of Alex, bad ass and cutie extraordinaire. I have the most unexpected crush on Kyle, I love him so much! The women on this show are so unbelievably hot and bad ass, I can barely stand it. The only character I have trouble with is Max. But that’s not the subject and he’s just too cute with Liz sometimes.
So, I’ll keep on watching the show for all these characters and to see Malex’s evolution. They are in it for the long haul, we all know that and need to accept it. But they remain irrevocably in love (they have been for 10 years even though they barely knew each other, do you imagine how completely head over heels and hopeless they are going to be after actually talking and learning everything about each other?) They are each other’s home and true love. Period.
God, I love them. I love this show. I love you guys.
